Yeah yeah I did it. The jokes are old, but I still managed to pull one off.
Anyways, I spent today moving furniture from a campus storage facility (i.e. a townhouse) to a storage bin on sixth street. We are actually busy now, which means I don't get to blog while I "work" anymore. While most people would be saddened by actual work, I am quite pleased by it. I am a HUGE fan of manual labor!!! I heart the feeling of accomplishing something at the end of the day. We did not take many breaks at all and when I wasn't loading or unloading, I was lucky enough to have the responsibility of driving the awesome moving van. I love driving huge things. It reminds me of last summer when I worked at North Country Canoe Outfitters in Ely, MN. I spent all summer driving 12-15 passenger vans with trailors behind them around a road that should only be big enough for a camry. It was awesome. Needless to say, I really enjoyed work today. I'm physically exhausted but glad that I was able to do something. What's even better is that we're doing the same thing tomorrow. Woot!!!
So I found out that one of the elementary school teachers on the reservation died the other day in a car accident with her daughter and two others. I am terrible at putting names with faces but I am pretty sure that I met her. This time will be really hard for people on the reservation because, from my understanding, she was a very well-loved person. I do not know much about her, but from what I've learned, my little brother may have had her as a teacher. He sent me an email the other day with a poem that seemed to be inspired by the tragedy. The email was very vague, but my understanding is that he wrote it. I think it is beautiful. I want to sit here and just go on and on about how great it is, but instead, I'm just gonna put it on here:
People are both good and evil
People are corrupted
Somewhere inside us,
there is still hope
So
Say goodbye to the tortures of the world
Say goodbye to the unspeakable truth
Say goodbye to the corruption of man
Say hello to Him
Say hello to the streets of gold
Say hello to the fondess
of which you have never known
Say hello to the overwhelming love
Say hello to eternity with Him
You've said goodbye to family
You've said goodbye to friends
You say goodbye till' everything ends
Should your faithfulness pend
All, he will mend
He will love you for always
He will love you forever
His love for you shall dwindle, never
Our Lord God is amazing. We have so much hope! We can only get a taste of the love that is to come. This world is broken, but we can say goodbye to it. We will find a fondness of which we have never truly known. We will someday say "hello" to Him and will be completely wrapped up in his love. It will be so beautiful and we will be so overwhelmed!
What an amazing God---
"He will love you for always
He will love you forever
His love for you shall dwindle, never"
What a beautiful reminder of everything for which we hope. He is truly the only One worth dying, or better yet, living for.
Scott is cool. I love you man.
love you guys
Have a great night
-Dave
