Hello hello!
So I've been listening to Rich Mullins a lot lately and one of my favorite songs of his is entitled "We are not as strong as we think we are." The song is about the insane amount of pride we have sometimes. I love this song because it points out just how frail and weak we are. We take pride in what we do but dont' realize the countless times that we shoot ourselves in the foot. I keep saying "we" when what I should be saying is "I." Pride is something that pulls my walk down. The song has always been a great reminder to me of my need for God's fierce love and amazing grace.
I think it also relates nicely to my decision to start a blog. I've always been the guy that thought these things were a waste of time. I figured that for most people, they ended up becoming a gripe-fest without any real purpose behind them. I guess I'm just not as strong as I thought I was...because here I am...
So, to set the record straight, from the beginning, I'm starting a blog for two main reasons:
1.) My parents live 12 hours away and they don't know what goes on in my life. Hopefully this can be a good window for them to see what I do, think, feel, etc...
2.) My friends are all over the place and I hate making phone calls...you do the math.
I would like to give credit to Nanette for helping me begin this process. I don't know why I listen to her, but somehow, she always ends up being right on things;).
"We are frail
we are fearfully and wonderfully made
forged in the fires of human passion
choking on the fumes of selfish rage
and with each our hells and our heavens
so few inches apart
we must be awfully small
and not as strong as we think we are"
in Him

Hey, welcome to the blog-world!! ...and thanks for the shout out. 2 points for you :)
Woot! what is that? 11?
Dave is cool.
I was struck by those exact same words in Rich Mullins' song today...oh how frail we are indeed...and indeed how fearfully and wonderfully made! This life is so beautiful, so painful, so ugly, such a gift, sometimes feels like such a curse. But Lord, in faith, thank you.
