on a different note...my blog is cracked out. somewhere along the line when i was editing my template, something went haywire. the side bar is currently sitting on the very bottom of the page. i thought i had this whole template thing pretty well under control but i can't find the problem in the code...
...help?

Yes, I see the sidebar is now on the bottom part of your blog's front page. A similar thing happened to my second weblog, when I re-published it... (Actually, in that one, the entry fields are being pushed below the template.) And I know of at least two other Blogger blogs that that has happened to as well. I'm glad that at least it's not just mine... And therefore, I suspect that it's not necessarily a code problem. Hopefully, Blogger will resolve this problem, so our templates will be back to normal soon.
Note: In your situation, your entry column is fine, but the sidebar column is lower. Are both of those table columns "top"-aligned? If the alignment isn't the issue, then it could just be a Blogger problem (something that has been known to happen... for years).
